Well, "crawling" in his own special way. You're doing great, Clay!

Something to Think About

My friend, Andrea, has the following paragraph on her blog and I think it is very thought-provoking. Thank you, Andrea, for always inspiring me with your honesty and encouraging words!

"When you are in the final days of your life, what will you want? Will you hug that college degree in the walnut frame? Will you ask to be carried to the garage so you can sit in your car? Will you find comfort in rereading your financial statement? Of course not. What will matter then will be people. If relationships will matter most then, shouldn't they matter most now?"

Hello, I'm 8 Months Old

Clay is 8 months old and I already find myself chasing him around the house - and he's not even walking! Granted, he has a "walker" which he uses to race from room-to-room finding things to open, tear, chew, pick up, and throw down. He also crawls around. His crawling is more like "ooching" or "schooching" around on his stomach, but it works. His favorite game is throwing a toy and then crawling after it. I have some good videos of his snazzy crawling style, I will post them soon.

He is eating really well. So far he seems to like all vegetables and fruits. Sometimes when he tries a new food, he'll make a really weird face and then say "bad!" (it sounds more like "bbaaaddd!"), like it is the worst food imaginable. I wish I could get that on video! He said it the first time when I made him some eggplant, and then he said it again today when he tried some sweet potato "puffs". He always ends up liking the food, it's just the initial exposure that's tricky. I don't think he realizes that what he is saying actually fits the situation. But, nevertheless, it is hilarious!

I learned today that he is frightened by the hose attachment on my vacuum cleaner. The normal vacuum cleaner sound doesn't bother him. He just watches me vacuum the carpet like a spectator watches a tennis match; his head moves from side-to-side. But, when I tried to use the hose attachment today to clean some baseboards, he instantly burst into tears and started howling. I turned the vacuum off and reassured him that everything was okay and he calmed down. Then, I turned it back on and started using the hose attachment again and he started wailing. It was so pitiful! For some reason, the attachment terrifies him.

Oh, he'll be upset if I forget to mention that he now has three teeth. All on the bottom row. They are precious and as sharp as little daggers. We'll post more pictures and videos soon. I'm so worn out right now, this is the best I can do!

If At First You Don't Succeed,

Try, Try Again!

"...Danny Devito in a pool"

According to my brother, Michael, "Clay looks exactly like Danny Devito when he's sitting in a pool. All that's missing is a cigar and a whiskey drink." One of the funniest things I've ever heard.

Cozy Coupe

My mom (Nana) lovingly bought Caden and Clay a "Cozy Coupe" to play with at her house. My brothers had one when they were little and they loved it. Caden and Clay think their "Coupe" is wonderful too!

I Have Two Teeth Now!

If you look closely, you can see them!

The countdown is on!
