Baby Shower

On Saturday, September 20, I had my first baby shower at my mom's house in Jefferson City, TN. It was wonderful! Words cannot express how grateful I am for all the planning, hard work, little details and love that went into such a fabulous party. The theme was Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit and I was overwhelmed with the generosity of all the guests and the hostesses.

Thank you, thank you for everything! I'm so thrilled to be surrounded by so much excitement and support while waiting for Baby Clay's arrival.

I can't believe it is mid-September!

Wow- time has really flown by these last few weeks. My mind is still stuck in August. It has been a while since I've updated the blog so I am trying to post as many thoughts and pictures as I can.

On Saturday, we went to my brother Michael's house to celebrate his 27th birthday with family and friends. We had a great time watching football, eating delicious food and catching up with everyone. It was so insanely hot that I spent most of my time indoors on the couch with my feet on an ottoman. No one can blame you for cooling your heels when you look like you're carrying a watermelon under your shirt.
Happy Birthday to my little brother (who is much bigger and taller than me)!

Rob really enjoys having his picture taken.

Tomorrow Rob and I have our first labor and childbirth class at the hospital. It should be very interesting. Rob is being a good sport about the whole thing. I feel like I already know what I need to know to give birth, but I'm sure I will learn a lot anyway!

Nursery Pics!

This past week my mom and I worked diligently to finalize Baby Clay's nursery. After many trips up and down the ladder with lots of drilling, spackling and measuring (thanks Mom!), we were able to hang his curtains. (The fabric is a Beatrix Potter print and I think they are absolutely adorable!) We also hung pictures on the walls and rearranged his furniture. I am so pleased with the final product and I can't wait until the little munchkin gets here so he can try everything out!

To All My Friends

This time of year always brings an added sense of excitement for me. Fall is right around the corner (it happens to be my favorite season) followed shortly thereafter by the holiday season, which I also love. Despite all my anticipation of cooler weather, football games, pumpkins and fireplaces, I always feel a sense of anxiety over the inevitable arrival of hurricane season. I am very thankful that my family and I lived right outside New Orleans for most of my life and never experienced a major hurricane. However, because the threat was always a possibility, my mind has been programmed to worry about them even though I no longer live in their direct path.
I want all my friends to know that if you ever need a place to stay during an evacuation, or anytime, you are always welcome to stay with me in Nashville. I also want you to know I think about you and your families every time I watch any hurricane coverage on television. If there's anything you need, let me know. I love you all.

The countdown is on!
