The front door of our house in Louisville.
Last week while I was carrying on with my usual daily routines (and complaining on Thursday about my no-good, yucky morning), I was completely unaware of the misery plaguing my friends in Kentucky. I had heard there was an ice storm, but I didn't realize how much damage it had caused and how it was impacting the state. Once I started following the storm and reading the coverage online, I realized that if we still lived in Louisville, we probably would not have electricity and we could have a tree (or two) on our house. Our former neighborhood was one of the worst hit. The thought of having to survive an ice storm in a house with no electricity, no fireplaces, and a nine week old baby really frightened me. I am very thankful we are in Nashville now, but I can't help feeling pangs of sadness for our friends and neighbors who are stuck in the storm. If any of you ever need a place to stay, you are more than welcome to stay with us. In the meantime, Rob and I will be checking our emergency supplies!
